Kaal Bhairav Ashtakam

Daily recitation of the Kalabhairava Ashtakam imparts wisdom of life and freedom. It can provide relief from the pain, hunger, despair, rage, and pain caused by sorrow, attachment, and illusion. By worshipping Kalabhairava, we can achieve the joy that comes with the deepest level of tranquillity, when all problems dissolve away. When it comes to worshipping the deity, the Kaal Bhairav Ashtakam is just as significant as the Mantras. It consists of eight poems in which Lord Kaal Bhairava is prayed to. These lines detail every feature of the deity's physical attributes. It exalts God and His ability to save our spirits after we die. Lord Indra worships him as the Supreme Authority. Our spirit will reach Lord Kaal Bhairava's feet in the afterlife if we read or recite the Kaal Bhairav Ashtakam. It eliminates poverty and diminishes bad emotions such as grief, suffering, hate, and misery, among others. Adi Shankaracharya wrote each of the verses in Sanskrit. It's a lovely Ashtakam, entangled with various features of Kaal Bhairava's body, such as the snake around His neck and the golden belt around His waist. It is necessary to recite this Ashtakam on a regular basis in order to please Kaal Bhairava.

Meaning

Salutations to Lord Kalabhairava, the superior ruler of Kashi, whose lotus feet are worshipped by Lord Indra, ruler of the devas; who wears the sky as his dress, symbolising his free existence; who has a snake as his sacrificial thread, a moon on his head, and is very empathetic; who is praised by Narada, scholar of the gods, and other yogis; who is a Digambara, wearing the sky as his robe. Salutations to Lord Kalabhairava, the superior ruler of Kashi, who has the excellence of a million suns, who protects worshippers from the loop of rebirths, and who is victorious; who has a blue neck, who grants our needs and wants, and who has three eyes; who is death unto death itself and whose eyes resemble a lotus; whose weapon supports the universe and the one who is immortal. Salutations to Lord Kalabhairava, the ultimate lord of Kashi, who wields the trident, mattock, noose, and club; whose body is dark, who is the primaeval Lord, who is invincible, and free from the world's ailments; who is very powerful, and who enjoys the lovely tandava dance. Salutations to Lord Kalabhairava, the superior ruler of Kashi, the one who imparts both aspirations and spirituality, who has a polished appearance; who is caring to his devotees; who wears a golden belt around his waist with bells that make a tuneful sound when he moves. Salutations to Lord Kalabhairava, the superior ruler of Kashi, who assures that righteousness triumphs, who crushes the path of unrighteousness, who frees us from the chains of karma, and who is encircled by golden-hued snakes. Salutations to Lord Kalabhairava, the greatest ruler of Kashi, whose feet are decked with two golden sandals decorated with diamonds; who is the timeless, the god who grants our wants; who eliminates Yama's pride; whose terrible fangs release us. Salutations to Lord Kalabhairava, the superior ruler of Kashi, whose mighty roar eliminates the lotus-born Brahma's sheaths of inventions (i.e., our mental delusions); whose single gaze removes all our sins; who bestows the eight siddhis (achievements); and who wears a garland of skulls. Salutations to Lord Kalabhairava, the superior ruler of Kashi, who is the commander of spirits and goblins, who imparts honour; who liberates the inhabitants of Kashi from their immoral and unrighteous deeds; who leads us down the path of virtue, who is the universe's most eternal lord. Salutations to Kashi's greatest lord, Lord Kalabhairava. Those who read these eight verses of the Kalabhairava Ashtakam, which are magnificent, a source of wisdom and freedom, which increases the many types of righteousness in a person, eradicate sadness, attachment, deprivation, selfishness, hatred, and heat - will reach Lord Kalabhairava's feet after death.
