Astrology is absolutely true. Just as science is a reality, so is astrology.
If astrology were false, it would have disappeared in this modern era. The fact that it still survives shows its validity. Astrology can reveal what fate holds for a person. The positions of planets in one's birth chart and changes in planetary periods (Dasha and Bhukti) help in estimating one's future.
As Krishna says in the BhagavadGita, "People always interpret according to their own intellect and situations. Only a wise person can understand the true meaning of what is said, which is why there is so much misunderstanding in this world."
Several factors lead people to doubt and look down on astrology:
First, it is not easily understood by everyone.
When people don't understand something, they often think negatively and spread this negativity within society, which is a reason some do not believe in astrology.
Second, when people do not gain any benefit from astrology.
When astrology does not bring a person any tangible benefit, they tend to talk negatively about it.
Third, when there is a shared opinion in society.
When there is a general opinion within society, people often adopt it without deeper consideration or investigation into what is right or wrong. This applies to astrology as well as politics, individual personalities, or other fields.
It is believed that individuals are born according to their karma in past lives, which influences their destiny in this life.
Astrology can provide insights into a person's characteristics based on their birth chart. The positions of planets in the 12 houses of the horoscope can give clues about one's mind, father, mother, career, marriage, children, siblings, and more. The nine planets’ periodic influences (Dasha-Bhukti) help to understand how an individual changes over time.
For example:
If Mars is in a person's 2nd house, it is believed to cause difficulties in finance and marriage. If Rahu is in the 4th house, there could be problems related to vehicles, and if Ketu is in the 10th house, there may be obstacles in one's career. If Jupiter is in the 7th house from the ascendant, it suggests a marriage prospect.
Specific doshas (faults) such as Mangala Dosha (Mars defect) and Kala Sarpa Dosha (serpent defect) can be identified, and remedies suggested by experienced astrologers can help mitigate them. Visiting temples, making offerings, and consulting a knowledgeable astrologer can address these issues.
In today’s world, people still check horoscopes for marriage compatibility, home building, and job searching. The popularity of TV astrologers or street-side astrologers who merely work for money may lead to a misunderstanding about astrology. These people might encourage unnecessary purchases, like rings or tortoise figurines, leading to misconceptions. But true astrology has its own dignity and depth.
Astrology is said to have originated from the divine, and it’s noted in ancient texts that deities like Lord Hanuman and Mother Parvati had deep knowledge of it. There are still sincere astrologers today who do not ask for money but speak the truth.
A recent example of this is the visit by India’s scientists to a temple on the day ISRO launched Chandrayaan-3. Even though our scientists have advanced to the point of sending technology to the moon, they still seek spiritual grounding. This illustrates the true meaning of our scriptures and spiritual heritage.
The ISRO chairman made a statement that perhaps few noticed:
"Science is for external exploration, while spirituality is for inner exploration."
Balram, as an avatar of Sheshnaag, on whom Lord Vishnu rests, Balram could not have fought against Krishna. So he decided to go on a pilgrimage while the war carries on.
