Sons of Ravana: Their Heroic Deeds and Ultimate Fates in the Ramayana

Ravan had 7 sons from his three wives Mandodari, Dhanyamalini, and a third wife.

The name of his seven sons are as below:-

  1. Indrajit or Meghanada was the eldest child of Ravana and Mandodari. He was named as Meghanada as his cry resembled thunder. Meghanada got the name Indrajit after he defeated Devaraj Indra and vanquished the sky (Indra Loka).

Meghanada was a powerful fighter. He had a few ground-breaking heavenly weapons, including Brahmastra, Pashupatastra, and Vaishnavastra. He dominated the craft of fighting under the direction of Sukracharya, the Guru of the Daityas (devils).

Nonetheless, ultimately, Meghanada was killed by Lakshman as he upset his Yagna with the assistance of Vibhishana.

He was the most powerful of all the sons of Ravan.

Trishira - Who had 3 heads was an Asura ( Demon). He drew in Lord Ram in a battle. He was killed by Lord Ram.

3.Prahasta

Prahasta was an incredible Rakshasa Warrior and the central officer of Ravan's military in Lanka. Lakshman killed him.

  1. Atikaya

Atikaya was the child of Ravana and Dhanyamalini. He was the more youthful sibling of Meghanada. When he maddened Lord Shiva,the god heaved his Trishul at him.

Atikaya got the Trishul in mid-air and unassumingly bowed before Lord Shiva. In this way, Lord Shiva got satisfied with him and favored him with mysteries of bows and arrows and heavenly weapons. Atikaya had astounding abilities in fighting. He possessed the invincible armor of Lord Brahma that could only be pierced by a Brahmastra and was killed by Lakshman, using a Brahmastra in the war.

5.Akshayakumar

Akshayakumara was the most youthful child of Ravan. He was sent by Ravan to stop Hanuman at Ashok Vatika. Hanuman killed him when he first went as a messenger of Lord Ram to Lanka.

  1. Devantaka

Lord Hanuman killed Devantaka during the war with Ravan. He was a mighty son of Ravan.

  1. Narantaka.

Narantaka headed a military comprising 720 million rakshasas (devils). Angada, son of Bali in the end killed him.
